jatc_v2These programs, available through Mass Benefits, are underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA (an AIG company). The Accident Insurance Plan provides insurance for Apprentices and Trainees while attending classes and while traveling to and from classes. (Coverage can also include Directors, Instructors and Committee members – cannot include office staff.)

This year each Local can choose one of the Coverage Options listed below:


Option I – Excess Plan 1**

  • $25,000 Accident Expense Benefit (after the first $25.00 of incurred medical expenses)
  • $25,000 Accidental Death
  • $25,000 for the loss of either two hands, two feet, two eyes, or any combination of any two of the above.
  • $12,500 for the loss of either one hand, one foot, or one eye.

Per Participant Cost:
$ 9.25 – No Weekly Indemnity
$16.00 – with $200 Weekly Indemnity
$29.00 – with $400 Weekly Indemnity

** Excess Plan 1 is not available in Idaho, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, or South Dakota due to state insurance laws.


Option 2 – Primary Plan 1

  • $25,000 Accident Expense Benefit (after the first $25.00 of incurred medical expenses)
  • $25,000 Accidental Death
  • $25,000 for the loss of either two hands, two feet, two eyes, or any combination of any two of the above.
  • $12,500 for the loss of either one hand, one foot, or one eye.

Per Participant Cost:
$12.00 – No Weekly Indemnity
$18.50 – with $200 Weekly Indemnity
$32.00 – with $400 Weekly Indemnity


Option 3 – Primary Plan 2

  • $50,000 Accident Expense Benefit (after the first $25.00 of incurred medical expenses)
  • $50,000 Accidental Death
  • $50,000 for the loss of either two hands, two feet, two eyes, or any combination of any two of the above.
  • $25,000 for the loss of either one hand, one foot, or one eye.
  • $200 Weekly Indemnity

Per Participant Cost: $45.00


Accident Expense Benefit:

Primary Coverage: No coordination with any other insurance coverage, except worker’s compensation. Benefits are paid 100% on a Usual and Customary basis after the deductible.

Excess Coverage: Benefits are paid on a Usual and Customary basis after any other insurance payments are made. If participant has no other insurance coverage, benefits are
paid on a Usual and Customary basis after the deductible.
